What is the coverage?

As AMA Pro Racing professionally licensed athletes, our Pro Motocross participants are covered by the AMA Pro Racing Rider Excess Medical Policy. 

The program provides coverage of up to $50,000 in medical bills.  Death and dismemberment coverage is $10,000. A $1,000 deductible applies to each claim.  Participants are solely responsible for any unpaid balances.

The coverage is secondary to a participant’s primary insurance.  In the event a participant has no coverage, the policy would be primary.

Who is covered?

The program provides coverage for a properly credentialed AMA Pro Racing rider, WMX licensed rider, licensed crew members and officials.  The program does not apply to any participant not licensed by AMA Pro Racing, i.e., any exhibition event.

What to do in the event of an injury?

All event-injuries treated at the Asterisk Mobile Medical Unit are documented.  If injured, please report immediately to the Asterisk Medical Unit on site at every event.  Failure to report an injury could result in denial of a claim.  In the case of serious injury, where hospital transport is necessary, on site medical staff will notify MX Sports.

Medical staff will complete and issue an AMA Pro Racing Medical Claim Form for every person treated.  You must present the form to your follow-up medical care provider.

When do I submit a claim?

All claims should be submitted to the participant’s primary insurance company first. 

A claim should be submitted under the AMA Pro Racing program if (1) the participant has no primary coverage, (2) payment from the primary provider has been made but unpaid balances remain, or (3) a claim has been denied by the primary.

Medical bills should be submitted immediately for prompt payment.

What if I have any questions?

For your convenience, medical insurance cards are available at the MX Sports Pro Racing semi or by contacting MX Sports Pro Racing.  These cards contain reporting and contact information in the event of an incident and provide immediate guidance.  Although based out of London, services are available 24 hours.
