Pala Raceway featured round #2 of the Honda 150 Cup. The event featured some of America’s top young riders competing on Honda CRF 150 motorcycles, all of which complied with AMA Supermini rule classifications.
Cooper Webb of North Carolina ran away with the win, as well as the $2000 HRCA Red Riders reward. The young rider from North Caroline with over 50 amateur championships to his credit took the early holeshot and never looked back, winning the four lap race by a 22 second margin.
Coming in second was local rider Andrew Silverstein of Canyon Lake, California, and a competitor and friend of Cooper Webb. Rounding out the podium was Troy Graffunder who traveled to Pala from Northern California.
The event featured 30 riders from as far away as South Dakota and Wyoming. Gracie Van Horn, the sole female rider, finished a credible tenth place, and thus earned the final spot for the HRCA Red Rider contingency awards.
The unique event allowed all 30 riders to participate in a track walk on Friday afternoon with Trey Canard and Justin Barcia. In addition, the riders had their own autograph session, and upon the completion of the event, each were presented with finisher medals courtesy of American Honda.
During the track walk on Friday afternoon, the ever-confident Andrew Silverstein had placed a bet with Trey Canard that he could "blitz the whoops". On the line was an autographed jersey. No word at presstime as to who won the bet, but we are guessing based on how rough and nasty the track was that Silverstein owes Canard his jersey!
