The Honda CRF150 Race Report: Steel City

The Honda 150 kicked off at on September 4th at Steel City. For the first time ever, the stars of tomorrow got a chance to ride on a national track on the same day as the worlds best Motocross racers. The class was limited to 30 entries, and included entries from all across the eastern United States.

Cooper Webb, a factory Honda / JGR rider was the early favorite to win, and managed to pull a huge holeshot. Suddenly on the second lap, the young rider from North Carolina suffered a flat tire and was forced to ride at a drastically reduced speed, while looking at the rear tire of his bike.  That eventually opened up the race to Lorain, Ohio’s Richie Kolcun, on the #921 Honda CRF 150.

Richie was able to run a steady race, and took the checkered flag on the 5th lap, as well as the first place trophy and a $2000 HRCA rider reward.

Second place went to Austin Collins of Oviedo, Florida, while third went to Carson Tickle of Cary, North Carolina. Carson is the younger brother of DNA Shred Stix Star Racing Yamaha Factory rider Broc Tickle.

The Honda 150 Cup will resume at Pala Raceway with some of the west coasts best up and coming young talent.
